In my experience, I like having a soft light on the stairs instead of flipping on the ceiling lights at night. One thing to know: the extra modes are useful, but I've to glance at the switch to remember which setting I left it on.
The pantry one is on motion mode, while the hallway one stays at a lower brightness at night, so the two-pack ended up solving two different annoyances. I put one light in our pantry and the other near a dark hallway corner.
