This yarn is incredibly soft, possibly the softest I've encountered, with a delightful velvety touch. There are parts I like here �� As a beginner, I notice pretty quickly when something makes the learning curve easier or harder! The plush texture is the main reason I would choose it for an afghan or throw �� the tradeoff is that the plush surface hides mistakes but also hides stitch definition.
Once I had it set up, the texture is noticeably softer than basic acrylic yarn I have used �� the tradeoff is that I would compare skeins before starting a large project to make sure the color matches. I noticed some loose fibers when I pulled the yarn through tighter stitches
For hobby projects, the actual working feel matters more to me than the packaging. The yarn is soft, but the thickness wasn't exactly what I pictured for my pattern. I'd calculate yardage carefully because a soft bulky yarn can disappear fast in a blanket.
